Trader remanded for fraud

Accra, July 30, GNA- A Circuit Court in Accra presided over by Mr Williwise Kyeremeh on Friday remanded Abdul Raul Imoro, a trader, into prison custody for fraud.

The accused pleaded not guilty to defrauding by false pretences and he is to re-appear on August 6.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Patrick K. Frimpong said in February last year, the complainant, a teacher, wanted his brother, Baba, to travel to the United States.

He said the complainant was introduced to Imoro as someone who could help her secure a visa and other travelling documents for Baba. He said Imoro agreed to help the complainant secure the visa and all the other documents and collected 4,000 dollars.

ASP Frimpong said Imoro promised making everything ready in three months but he failed to honour his promise. He said the complainant reported the matter to the police and Imoro was arrested. Imoro has since refunded 1,000 dollars, the prosecution said. 30 July 04
