Toptech Ghana and Police to train churches in security issues

Toptech Ghana, a transport, logistic and Security Company and the Ghana Police Service will collaborate to train 20 selected churches across the country in security issues.

The training programme, scheduled to start from June 12 to 13, would bring together users, security personnel of the churches to gain knowledge in modern security trends.

Participants would be trained in terrorism and security, terrorism policing, terrorism intelligence and terrorism and the use of chemical biological, radiological and nuclear explosives.

Mr Cecil Garbrah, the Executive Director, Toptech Ghana said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency that the training had become necessary because of the increase in terrorists’ attacks in neighbouring countries, which had claimed lives of people, and put Ghana's security under threat.

He said the company recently collaborated with the Most Reverend John Bonaventure Kwofie the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra and the Police to train users and security committees of Catholic Churches to be vigilant in security issues.

He encouraged Churches to ensure that security personnel use walkie talkies to enable them communicate effectively any time they suspect somebody to be a threat.

Mr Garbrah advised Ghanaians to be extra alert and be security conscious by communicating any unsuspecting person to the Police and friends for action to be taken.

He charged the Churches to invest in security equipment to avert any unforeseen attacks on members.

Touching on road safety, Mr Garbrah expressed concern about the country’s weak enforcement of the law, urging authorities to be proactive in applying the rules without fear or favour.

Mr Garbrah, who is also a Road Safety Expert, urged government to implement the spot fine on drivers who flout road safety regulations to serve as deterrent to others.

He said the company had organised seminars for over thousand participants from various organisations, including the World Bank Africa and the Ghana Police service on defensive and off road driving.
