The Movement for Social Justice, which is a political organization formed to promote the fulfillment of the promise made to Ghanaians at independence that we can manage our own affairs to the benefit of all our people. The Movement offers an alternative way and solutions to looking at issues, events and the aspirations of people of Ghana. The welfare of the people and their need to overcome the challenges of where we are as a nation in sub-Sahara Africa is our guiding principle.
Much as we, the members of Movement for Social Justice, cherish the talk about corruption and remain committed to utterly eradicating it from the social fiber of the citizenry, it is, however, imperative to emphasis the point that Dr. Tony Aidoo is not eligible and indeed not the best person to be nominated by Ghana to represent the country on a rather salient board like this at that level. The most intriguing question that comes to the fore is: What criteria or criterion did the Atta Mills government used in the selection of such a character to represent the country on the board of the AU Anti-Corruption body.
We are of the strongest conviction that Dr. Tony Aidoo’s selection and eventually his election to serve on this demure AU board is an act that could expose a reputable nation like Ghana to international ridicule and create doubts about Ghana’s integrity. It is quite disheartening and surprising to see a man of Tony Aidoo’s caliber serving on this prominent board. It is embarrassing and indeed humiliating to see such a despicable personality to represent Kwame Nkrumah’s Ghana at such level.
Everybody in Ghana today with some good sense of judgment would agree with us on the subject that Dr. Tony Aidoo does not truly possess any attribute of an anti-corruption crusader or acumen hence the call for government to immediately withdraw his nomination. It is an open secret that Dr. Tony Aidoo is loquacious and throughout his career as a politician, the only achievement that can be attributed to him is nothing other than being a leading attack person for the NDC. The fact still remains that in Ghana today, nobody knows Dr. Tony Aidoo’s area of expertise. He has virtually failed to prove himself in almost all fields of endeavour. What Dr. Aidoo is best known for on Ghana’s political landscape is hurling unnecessary INSULTS at perceived opponents of his party.
When the request came up for President Mills to nominate someone to serve on the AU Anti-Corruption board on behalf of the nation, many of us thought the president was going to take advantage of it and appoint a more credible and dynamic person for the job, and not a personality like Dr. Tony Aidoo. This is disappointing indeed and is something that all well-meaning Ghanaians should be worried about. If President Mills calls himself a pan-Africanist, then he must have known that Nkrumah’s African Personality was about a proud, excellent and credible African. Dr. Tony Aidoo is not the type of African Personality Nkrumah talked about. Perhaps, Prof. Mills does not really understand African Personality.

It is against this backdrop that members of MSJ are seizing the opportunity to register our displeasure on the president’s role in ensuring that Dr. Tony Aidoo does not become a board member of the AU Anti-Corruption agency. We are, therefore, calling on President Mills to, as a matter of urgency, withdraw the nomination of Dr. Tony Aidoo, whose appointment as a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, was terminated in a bizarre circumstance. By doing so, we at the MSJ believe that such a move would save the country from embarrassment. The president must turn back the hands of time.
We, on this note, reiterate that there are more better and credible people out there who could be considered for the nomination and not someone like Dr. Tony Aidoo. President, do something about this to salvage Ghana’s image on the international community.

Signed
