Former General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John accused the general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia of having traits of a wizard.

Sir John's attack on his then rival secretary birthed out when Asiedu Nketia after the 2012 elections called on former Electoral Commissioner, Kwadwo Afari-Djan to prosecute all presiding officers who failed to sign pink sheets.

Speaking on Okay FM on December 12, 2013, Sir John said he believed it was a needless call from a wizard who was aiming to make heads roll over nothing.

“After the NDC has benefitted from the chaos which was created by presiding officers who refused to sign pink sheets, Asiedu Nketia wants to act as an angel. He behaves like a wizard with sinister motives and must be told it is a needless call.”

They both have different ways of approaching and tackling political issues, but when it comes to identifying one with traits of a wizard with sinister motives, Aseidu Nketia tops the chart.

General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, made this scathing remark on OKAY FM when he was called upon, to give his take on Asiedu Nketia’s call for presiding officers who failed to sign pink sheets to be prosecuted.

Mr. John Asiedu Nketia charged the Electoral Commission of Ghana to investigate actions of presiding officers and punish those culpable. According to him if this action is taken, it would serve as a deterrent to others.

But Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie thinks otherwise. He believes it was a needless call from a wizard who is aiming to make heads roll over nothing. According to him, if Asiedu Nketia believes it is a right call, he should have said that prior to the 2012 general elections.

“After the NDC has benefitted from the chaos which was created by presiding officers who refused to sign pink sheets, Asiedu Nketia wants to act as an angel. He behaves like a wizard with sinister motives and must be told it is a needless call”, Mr. Owusu Afriyie posited.

The issue of unsigned pink sheets became raucous in the Supreme Court when lawyers for the petitioners in the presidential election petition confronted the Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, with lists of unsigned pink sheets, duplicated voters register and some polling stations with same names and codes, as well as having duplicate pink sheets.

It, however, happened in the end that the judges who sat on the case ruled in favour of the respondents thus President Mahama, the EC, and NDC.
