Some party leaders of the NPP, including then flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo and the Former President John Agyekum Kufour, while addressing a multitude of party supporters at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Sunday, December 2, 2012 had their stage crumbled leading to the fall of leaders who had graced the campaign stage.

The NPP’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing the multitude gathered when the stage caved in. According to reports, the victims escaped unhurt. The incident occurred barely 5 days to Ghana’s 2012 General elections which witnessed the incumbent president, John Mahama as the winner of the presidential contest with 50.7% of the vote.

The New Patriotic Party flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo took a tumble when the stage on which he was addressing a crowd caved in at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, Sunday.

Nana Addo was addressing thousands of party supporters at a rally when the incident occurred.

Joy News’ Benjamin Tetteh confirmed the incident to Myjoyonline.com. The incident happened around 18 hours GMT.

Other party leaders, including ex- president John Kufuor were on stage when the incident occurred.

No serious injuries have been recorded, except that the rally had to come to an abrupt end
