The Nkawkaw Fire Station Visibility Team has rescued a three-year-old boy from drowning during a community engagement exercise at Nkawkaw Kwamang in the Eastern Region.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the incident occurred while members of the Visibility Team were engaging with the Chief Executive Officer of Access Pub and Restaurant, Madam Asantewaa, as part of a routine public outreach exercise.
In a Facebook post shared on Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Service said the firefighters spotted the child in distress in a nearby stream and immediately sprang into action.
The team successfully pulled the boy from the water, preventing what could have been a fatal incident.

"The team spotted the child in distress in a stream near Access Pub and Restaurant while interacting with the facility's CEO, Madam Asantewaa, and swiftly intervened to save his life," the Ghana National Fire Service stated.
The Service said the rescue highlights the vigilance and professionalism of its personnel, stressing that firefighters remain committed to protecting lives not only during emergency responses but also throughout routine community engagement activities.
The GNFS further urged the public to remain vigilant around water bodies, especially where young children are concerned, to help prevent similar incidents.
