The Kwabenya District Police Command of the Greater Accra Region yesterday arrested three persons in connection with the gruesome murder of the Development Chief of Amasaman.

Nii Tettey Sarbah lay supine on a mat with a deep cut on his forehead.

Two cuts were also curved out on his stomach and dried blood was also found on his body.

The late chief was found dead in his room closed to the stool house on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

The Kwabenya District Police Commander, Superintendent Bright Boafo, confirmed to Today in an interview yesterday that the suspects were arrested at about 11:10 p.m., on Monday, June 12, 2017 by the police patrol team at Rich View Hotel near Abuom junction at Kwabenya in Accra on a tip-off by an informant.

Those arrested are Cobra, Rahim Yakubu and Musah Mohammed.

According to the police, the three were hiding in a hotel to attack another victim.

The senior police officer disclosed that two yellow unregistered motorbikes, a BMW and Suzuki brands were in the possession of the suspects.

The suspects, according to Superintendent Boafo, also had two black school bags in their possession which contained a pistol and a sharp knife believed to have been used in committing the crime.

He further disclosed that his outfit was investigating the case.

A relative of the deceased, Samuel Otu, told journalists yesterday that they found the body of the deceased at 5:00 a.m., last Saturday, June 10, 2017 hours after hearing gunshots at about 1:00 am.

Late Nii Sarbah was part of retinue of chiefs who performed purification rites at the Ardayman stool house.

Reports explaining the circumstances surrounding his murder were rife but the general suspicion remains a land dispute

Meanwhile, the murder of the chief has rekindled fears over the security of properties acquired in the community.

Litigation over lands was at the heart of the February 2011 killing of Achiaman Chief, Nii Kwartey Ajan I.

Six years down the lane another chief has been murdered in a similar circumstance.
