Three die in Tema beach road accident

Tema, May 4, GNA - Three persons died on the spot and several others were injured on Thursday at about 0400 hours when a vehicle on which they were travelling collided with a cargo truck on the Accra-Tema beach road.

The accident involved a Kingdom Transport Service bus with registration number GR 6477 E conveying workers of the Pioneer Food Cannery from Nungua towards Tema and a Leyland cargo truck loaded with 400 bags of cement on its way from Tema towards Accra using the beach road.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Wisdom Domie, Tema Community Two Motor Traffic and Transport Unit Commander told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the bodies of the three had been deposited at the Tema General Hospital morgue waiting identification and autopsy while the injured were on admission at the same Hospital receiving medical treatment.

ASP Domie said the vehicles, which blocked the road had been removed to allow free flow of traffic. At about 0830 hours when the GNA visited the scene of the accident, the cement was being off loaded unto another cargo truck.
