Three children have been hit by a Toyota Corolla with registration Number GC 210-10 in an accident at Aburi in the Eastern Region.

One of the Victims identified as Prince Okata Ntow, 3, has however been confirmed dead while the two others, Richmond Amoako Okine, 4, and Ransford Baah, 5, sustained injuries and are being treated at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital.

The 24-year-old driver of the Toyota Corolla identified as Mendy Agyekum Boateng reported himself to the Police and has been detained and the car impounded.

Confirming the accident, the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said the “accident occurred about 5:10 pm Thursday when the driver travelling from Koforidua to Accra on reaching a section of the road at Aburi ‘Y’ junction veered off its lane into the offside lane and crashed into a Nissan Amera taxi also with registration Number GR 4069-12 “.

He said the driver who lost total control of the steering wheel further went off the road into an abandoned filling station and knocked the three (3) children.

ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said the children sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital at Mampong Akwapim for treatment.
