Three cattle rustlers arrested in Northern region

The suspects The suspects

Three suspected criminals are in the grips of the Northern Regional Police Command for cattle raiding at Voggu in the Kumbungu district of the Northern Region.

They rustled five cows from different villages and then went to Voggu to raid a sixth. They were, however, ambushed by residents during the Voggu raid.

The rustlers, according to a Fulani herdsman who witnessed the theft, were transporting the stolen herd in a long Kia vehicle with registration number AW 2258-11.

The herdsman then alerted the owner of the herd who, in turn, rallied support from neighbours to scuttle the operation and effect a citizens’ arrest of the raiders. The locals then handed the criminals over to the police and also set the truck ablaze.

The police have confirmed the incident but have refused to speak for now.
