Dormaahene, Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, has led a raid on illegal mining sites in several communities within the Dormaa area.
The operation, carried out on September 15, 2025, by the Dormaahene in collaboration with the Dormaa Anti-Galamsey Task Force and chiefs from the Dormaa Traditional Council, led to the arrest of three illegal miners who were then handed over to the Ghana Police Service.

Additionally, mining equipment being used by the illegal miners was seized, including seven water pumping machines.
The raid which targeted areas including Dormaa-Akwamu, Akontanim, and Kobedi, was to address the issues of illegal mining (galamsey) activities.
“Today, Dormaahene Osaagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, along with the Dormaa Anti-Galamsey Task Force and chiefs from the Dormaa Traditional Council, conducted an operation at Dormaa-Akwamu, Akontanim, and Kobedi to address illegal mining (galamsey) challenge in the area.
“During the operation, three individuals were arrested, and seven water pumping machines were seized. They have been handed over to the Ghana Police Service,” a post by Abanpredease Palace TV on Facebook reported.
Images accompanying the report also showed the seized mining equipment being loaded into vehicles to be transported to the police station.
The illegal miners are believed to have been operating in forest reserves within the affected communities.
Meanwhile, the Dormaahene has issued a warning against illegal mining activities on the land, stressing that he would take drastic measures against individuals found engaging in illegal mining.

“Dormaahene issued a stern warning to anyone involved in illegal mining on Dormaa stool lands, ordering them to cease operations immediately or face consequences if apprehended,” the report added.
