Three New Envoys Receive Credentials

President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday presented Instruments of Commission and Letters of Credence to three envoys - designate, at the Castle, Osu.

They were, Lieutenant-Colonel Lawrence Kpabitey Kodjiku (rtd), Ambassador-designate to Israel, Mr Patrick Amoah-Ntim, Ambassador-designate to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Mr John Bentum-Williams, High Commissioner-designate to Malaysia.

President Kufuor also administered the official oath, oath of allegiance and secrecy to them.

He advised them to execute their new careers as diplomats with professional flair and eschew any lapses that would show the government in a bad light and urged them to reflect on good governance and democratisation and acquaint themselves well with their host countries.

He advised them to be abreast with government policies and programmes to promote the growth of the economy and wealth creation and give support to the private sector.

Mr Bentum-Williams on behalf of his colleagues pledged to live up to expectation and bring honour to the country.

He said their role would be to create the enabling environment to attract investment to Ghana, adding that they would ensure that their hosts consider Ghana as the most productive investment hub in the West African sub-region.

Mr Bentum-Williams said they would take good care of Ghanaians in their countries of accreditation and persuade those with the skills and expertise to return home to invest.
