Three Ghanaians Perish in Toronto

A horrible car accident last Sunday claimed the lives of three Ghanaians. The car in which five Ghanaians (16 to 21 years old) were travelling to a birthday party crashed into an electric pole and burst into flames a few metres from their destination.

A second car apparently following the first one arrived on the scene immediately, and one of the occupants was able to pull three people out of the burning car. The other two could not be pulled out, and they were later pronounced dead on the scene. It is not clear whether they died of the crash or of the fire. A third died shortly at a nearby hospital. The dead are Bismark Ofori, 17; Kwadwo Amankwah Owusu, 19, and Fred Oppong 21. The surviving two are Aaron Aforo, 15 and Franklin Taylor, 15. Aaron is the luckiest passenger since he emerged with only a broken leg. Franklin's condition is still listed critical but hopefully he'll survive.

Cause of accident: speed! Ben Kwame, the hero who pulled the three out of the burning car has confirmed that the accident occured as a result of speeding.
