Three Envoys Receive Letters Of Credence

Accra, (Greater Accra) 12 Nov.,

President Jerry John Rawlings today presented letters of credence to new ambassadors-designate to France and Benin and the High Commissioner-designate to Nigeria and swore them into office. Mr. Harry Osei Blavo, ambassador-designate to France, Mr. J.W.A. Kwofie, ambassador-designate to Nigeria, and Major Regent (ed correct) Achaab, ambassador-designate to Benin, took the oaths of office, allegiance and secrecy before the President. He congratulated them, shook hands with them and handed them their parchments of office. Mr. Blavo is the out-going Director of State Protocol, Major Achaab, a former ambassador to Burkina Faso, and Mr. Kwofie, immediate past Inspector-General of Police. President Rawlings told the new envoys that their assignments would not rpt not be easy, taking into account new events unfolding in the world. He, however, expressed confidence in the three men, saying they have made contributions in their various capacities to the country's development efforts. ''I do not expect people like you would have any complications. You have been through hard times as far as Ghana's recent past is concerned,'' the President said.
