A jobs creation summit organized by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah attracted thousands of youth across the Greater Accra Region.
The Accra International Conference Centre was filled to capacity for the summit on the theme Mahama’s Job creation agenda- creating a skilled workforce towards Ghana’s transformation.
A Presidential staffer, Emelia Arthur speaking on some skills training and job creation programmes said President Mahama has renewed his pledge to address the challenge of widespread unemployment among the youth in Ghana.
She revealed some modules initiated by the government like Youth Enterprise Support (YES) which was established to assist young Ghanaians wit creative and innovative business ideas and plans to achieve their full potential.
Madam Emelia Arthur said one hundred and seven beneficiaries enjoyed the first batch interest free loan scheme and the government is to increase the seed money to Gh 25 million from the initial seed capital of Gh 10 million cedis.
She explained other program programmes like Opportunities Industrialization Centre, The Community Information Centres, Youth Leadership and Skills Training Institutes, Youth in Agriculture Programme, Rural Enterprise Programme, Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) among many others.
The Deputy Minister of communication, Ato Sarpong also spoke of government’s readiness to invest Gh 13 billion cedis in 184 projects to create three million jobs in the next four years.
Hon. Julius Debrah however used the occasion to encourage the gathering to believe in themselves no matter their background because God has destined everyone to be great if the person will take the step.
The chief of staff has been organizing such job summit in the various regions he has toured as part of his encounter wit the Chief of Staff campaign across the country.
