Thomas Partey not aiming for Black Stars captain armband

Ghana midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has revealed that he is not aiming for Black Stars’ captain’s armband after captaining the side in recent times friendly encounters.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder captained the Black Stars of Ghana in recent friendlies against Japan and Iceland and is being tipped for the position in future.

However, Partey has brushed aside rumors of any possibility of him leading the senior national team and claim he isn’t aiming for the armband.

“This is just the beginning, I cannot say am the captain of the Black Stars because i have important players in front of me so I just work harder as I said earlier and anything that comes is a bonus.” Partey told the Press.

“As a player, I just play to achieve more for my club and country, being a captain doesn’t make me achieve anything, I just have to do my work and it will be the coach decision to choose a captain”

Partey won the best player at the maiden edition of the Ghana Football Awards which was held last Sunday at Accra.
