Ghana’s first female Vice President is not just a milestone—it is a national responsibility. That is the message from Maame Ama Pratt, the newly appointed Press Secretary to Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
“When she succeeds, we will be happy because, as Ghanaians, we need a success story to tell,” Maame Ama stated in an interview on Joy Prime, monitored by MyNewsGh.
She described her appointment as both an honor and a wake-up call. “There’s work to do. There’s work to do,” she emphasized.
For her, this moment is bigger than politics—it is about national progress. “It shows that as a people, we have matured. We are more sophisticated than we were,” she said, adding that many so-called advanced countries have yet to achieve this level of female representation.
But making history is not enough. Maame Ama believes the real work lies in ensuring that Ghana delivers on its promise of inclusive leadership.
“This is on all of us. We must ensure that what we lead with, we guide. This is a good thing for Ghana. Let’s make her succeed.”
