Things Fall Apart At GIPC

REPORTS REACHING this paper indicate that the morale of staff of the Ghana Investment Promotions Center (GIPC) has dwindled to the lowest ebb following the demotion and slashing of salaries of some directors allegedly by the sole decision of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Robert Ahonka-Lindsay without reasons.

The Chronicle gathered that tension and grumbling has reached its peak as the senior staff are planning to stage a massive demonstration against the CEO.

Senior staff members who spoke to this paper revealed that after many years of working for GIPC, the Chief Executive has decided to issue them new appointment letters to "engage" them but with a drastic reduction in both their ranks and salaries.

They accused him of being an autocratic leader and his leadership style being plutocratic.

This paper has gathered that about four directors had been demoted to principals, while one principal, Mr. Otoo, believed to be in the good books of Mr. Ahomka-Lindsay has been promoted to the status of a director without writing the civil servant exams which was the only means by which one gets elevated in the civil service.

According to an insider, the CEO while enjoying all pecks and emoluments that go with his office, he had cancelled all pecks entitled to civil servants at the Center.

In this regard, they accused him of purchasing a set of furniture, a fridge, and curtains among other things worth over ?100 million, however he had kicked against that of other directors.

The senior staff told this paper, there were unease calm at the GIPC.
