Thief escapes death narrowly after stealing chicken

A 25-year-old man had a close shave with death as he was nearly lynched by an angry mob for stealing 3 chickens at Asuofua in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region.

The incensed residents were bent on beating the hell out of the suspect but was saved, thanks to the timely intervention of a chief in the town who is also Otumfour Twafo Gyasehene Nana Boakye Agyemang.

Former Assembly Man for Asuofua Electoral area Osei Kwaku Michael who confirmed the incident to Kumasi based Abusua FM’s Osei kwadwo, said the suspect after interrogation by the Chief earlier claimed he went to the house for feathers of the chicken, but later admitted that he intended to steal them.

The suspect has been handed over to the Asuofua Divisional Police Command for further investigation.

According to the former Assemblyman, the suspect said he would have stabbed the chief to death if he knew that he would eventually hand him over to the Police.
