Hamza Suhuyini, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, has accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of using public narratives to deviate from its core mandate.

He described the office of the OSP as ‘politicians in legal attire.’

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on December 9, 2025, Hamza expressed concerns over the credibility of the Special Prosecutor and his team, citing recent statements and actions that he believes are intended to divert attention from substantive investigations.

“These guys are politicians in legal attire, these are politicians,” he said.

Hamza pointed to a number of incidents to illustrate his concerns, including the OSP’s handling of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s travel outside the country, during which the Special Prosecutor reportedly said he lacked the power to prevent it.

He also referenced the arrest of lawyer Martin Kpebu and a claim by an OSP staff member that Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by unknown attackers.

He also questioned a claim by OSP staffer Sammy Darko, who alleged that 17 police officers had assaulted the Special Prosecutor, asking how he was able to “count them” under such circumstances.

“These stories distract from the substantive issues the OSP is mandated to pursue,” Hamza said, adding that the frequency of such narratives has become difficult to ignore.
