In his acceptance speech, he assured that he would not let the people down.
He appealed to the Ghana Education Service to re-introduce the 30 percent quota reserved for selection of candidates from the locality of Senior High and Technical Schools. Mr Aidoo-Mensah said since the computerized selection and placement system was introduced, the localities had not been benefiting from the quota system, which had enabled many children from poor homes to gain high school education.
Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister, called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to strengthen their revenue generation mechanisms and not solely depend on the District Assemblies' Common Fund for their activities. Mr Francis Arthur, Member of Parliament for the area, appealed to the Assembly to ensure that peace in the district was maintained. 27 April 09
