The progress of women is the progress of cocoa industry – COCOBOD celebrates women on 2025 IWD

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) marked this year's International Women’s Day by celebrating women’s vital contributions to the cocoa value chain.

Under the theme “Accelerate Action,” COCOBOD highlighted women’s roles in farming, processing, and policymaking, while addressing challenges like limited access to land and financing.

In a statement, COCOBOD emphasised its commitment to empowering women in the sector, including supporting women through training in good agricultural practices, financial literacy, and value addition initiatives.

The statement also added the honouring of female excellence in the sector with an annual Most Enterprising Female Cocoa Farmer Award, offering cash prizes, equipment, and global exposure.

“Your progress is the industry’s progress,” the statement noted.

COCOBOD, in the statement dated March 8, 2025, called for collaboration with partners to close the gender gap, emphasising that “a more inclusive sector ensures long-term sustainability.”
