New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, John Boadu has shared a cryptic message about loyalty, betrayal and political memory, declaring that the party’s elephant symbol never forgets those who supported it or those who caused it harm.
In a Facebook post, Mr Boadu used the imagery of an elephant to suggest that silence and the passage of time should not be mistaken for forgetfulness, ending his message with a firm declaration of allegiance to the NPP.
“An elephant may walk a thousand miles and appear to have forgotten the footprints behind it, but never mistake its silence for forgetfulness,” he wrote.
He added that the animal remembers both those who helped it and those who hurt it, drawing a possible parallel with political relationships, past support and unresolved grievances.
“The elephant remembers the path, the hands that fed it, and those that wounded it,” Mr Boadu stated.
According to him, changing circumstances and periods of silence do not necessarily erase past experiences, suggesting that the consequences of past actions may become apparent when the time is right.
“Time may pass, circumstances may change, and the forest may grow quiet, but when the moment comes, memory speaks louder than words,” he added.
Mr Boadu concluded the post with a direct reference to the party, writing: “We are the New Patriotic Party!”
Although he did not identify any individual or group as the target of his message, the language of loyalty, injury and remembrance leaves room for political interpretation.
The post may resonate with discussions about relationships within the NPP, particularly as party members reflect on past events and the party’s future. However, Mr Boadu did not explicitly connect his remarks to any specific internal dispute, political figure or development.
His choice of the elephant is also significant in the context of the NPP, which uses the animal as its political symbol. The imagery gives the message a distinctly partisan tone while reinforcing its central theme: that the party does not forget its history or the actions of those associated with it.
