The Third Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Osman Masawudu, has cautioned President John Dramani Mahama to desist from what he described as the unlawful prosecution of NPP members, warning that he could face similar treatment if power changes hands.
Speaking in an interview shared on X on May 21, 2026, Alhaji Masawudu issued a stern message to the President and his appointees.

According to him, the NPP “never forgets” and implied that Mahama could face prosecution if power changes hands.
“We are telling John Mahama that he should be careful. [Otherwise], when power changes hands, he will be prosecuted because the NPP never forgets,” he declared.
He stressed that former presidents are not immune from accountability, citing international precedents.
“We can prosecute John Dramani Mahama by any means. People shouldn't think that a former president cannot be prosecuted. Several countries’ former presidents have been prosecuted and even faced jail time,” he said.
According to him, the President must recognise that his mandate is to protect all Ghanaians, not just members of the NDC.

He further accused Mahama of using executive power to compromise the judiciary.
“If he thinks he is the president of NDC, and he is going to use his executive power to compromise the judiciary, and then the judiciary will sit there and do whatever they can unconstitutionally to the New Patriotic Party, they should wait,” Alhaji Masawudu cautioned.
Reiterating his warning, he invoked the NPP’s symbol, the elephant, to emphasise that the party does not forget.
“We are telling John Dramani Mahama he should be careful. If not that, when power changes, John Dramani Mahama will hear from the New Patriotic Party and the elephant, ‘aboa osono no, he doesn't forget. Aboa osono John Dramani Mahama, John Dramani Mahama, aboa osono no doesn't forget,” he declared.
“We are telling John Mahama that he should be careful if not, when power changes he will be prosecuted because the NPP never forgets “.
