The Universities Strike

At the time of going to press, the strike by the lecturers of Ghana's five Universities was still in place amidst unconfirmed reports that they were "dismissed en bloc" by Education Minister, Harry Sawyer on 1 May 1995. According to the source the lecturers have been given up to Monday 15 May to "vacate University premises".

The source said, it will be interesting to note whether soldiers or members of the Committee of the Defence of the Revolution (CDRs) will be brought in to enforce the order.
