The Sharks Quiz – Opoku Ware school sets record in any national quiz competition

OWASS won the first round of the quiz OWASS won the first round of the quiz

Never in the history of a national quiz competition has such a margin been recorded, but so it was last Sunday in the Sharks Quiz, that OWASS did the unimaginable when they met with Bolgatanga Senior High in the first round of the all-round competition for High Schools.

Their intent was clearly shown from the get-go, in round one when they raced to a 60 – 15 gap on general knowledge questions about Ghana. The lead was widened in the literacy and numeracy round, and further in the STEM round.

In fact, at the end of the third round, the gap had reached an unassailable 170pts.

The final One-on-One round was no different as the “Santaase cowboys” finished at 200 pts to “big boss’s” miserly 0 pts. OWASS has in effect qualified to meet Presec – Legon in the next round of the competition.

In the Shark Juniors Contest, Manna International School inched DPS international by 185 pt to 100 pts in an exciting contest. Both schools have the chance of qualifying to the next round since the Juniors contest take a round robin format.

The Sharks Quiz is endorsed by the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Ghana Education Service and headline sponsored by Old Mutual Ghana. Academic City College, Webster University, Ashesi University and Family Health Medical School are the other lead sponsors while Indomie, Zaina, Voltic, Fanmilk, Come Study International, B5 Plus and Mr. Gee Popcorn are the Prize Sponsors.

The QUIZ is currently showing on TV3, Fridays at 4.30pm, for Juniors and Sundays at 2.30pm for Seniors.
