The Great "Female Mutilation" Hoax

Regina Danson, who arrived to the USA from Ghana in 1997 with a disturbing story of a tribal princess who, if deported, would be sexually mutilated by tribal elders for losing her virginity, leaves federal court, Monday, January 13, 2003, in the Brooklyn borough of New York. Authorities now say the name she used, Adelaide Abankwah, and the story were part of a hoax so elaborate it fooled supporters including then-first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.
