The Church of Pentecost, Dansoman Area, ordains 77 officers

The Church of Pentecost, Dansoman Area, concluded its 2018 Lay Leadership Training School excellently with a call on the participants to develop excellent Christian character and be loyal to the Church and the leadership always.

The Lay Leadership Training School programme is held annually in all Areas of the Church, under the supervision of the National Discipleship and Leadership Development Committee (NDLDC).

The aim of the training programme is to equip Church leaders with practical Christian leadership skills, knowledge, insight and understanding that will enable them to excel in life and ministry.

The 5-day lay Leadership Training School was held at Christian Home Academy, Dansoman, from Monday, August. 13, 2018 to Thursday, August 16, 2018. The plenary session was held at PIWC, SSNIT Flats auditorium on Friday, August 17, 2018. The School Principal was Aps. Onynah Gyamfi (Dansoman Area Head).

He was assisted by Ps Opuni Boateng (Coordinator), Elder Isaac Awuzah (School Prefect), Elder Chris Quist (Secretary), Dns. Theresa Wereko (Ladies’ Prefect), Elder Philip Adomako (Bell Monitor) and Elder Isaac Boamah Darko (Newscaster). There were forty four (44) well- trained facilitators, drawn from the thirteen (13) Districts in the Area, who taught the thirty seven (37) classes. One of the classes was for proposed Officers only. This is a very laudable innovation.

The school was attended by 1202 officers from the 13 Districts in the Area. Seventy seven (77) Officers (30 Elders, 23 Deacons and 24 Deaconesses), were ordained at the plenary session on Friday, August 17, 2018, to climax the program at the Dansoman PIWC, SSNIT Flats auditorium.

In his closing address, the Area Head, Apostle Onyinah Gyamfi, emphasized the need for all Christians to develop excellent character. He added that Christians must be loyal to the Church and the leadership also. He warned all Pastors, Officers and members not to rebel against the Church, its leadership or policies. “Be careful of your words, report on good things about the Church and leadership to the outside world, support the leadership, and obey the policies of the Church”. He concluded that God will bless abundantly and supernaturally, all those who remain faithful and humble.

The Area Apostle emphasized on loyalty and good character with reference to Numbers 14:24 and 1 Timothy 3:2-3, that Caleb was loyal and had an excellent spirit and followed his master, Moses, wholeheartedly. He added that Caleb was rewarded and his descendants inherited the Promised Land, because of his excellent spirit, character and loyalty. He reiterated that good character cannot be ignored because whenever character dies, Christian life and everything else dies.

A brief news update was also introduced in this year’s programme. Elder Isaac Boamah Darko, the Assistant District Youth Leader for Bethel District, who happens to be the morning show host of Hot 93.9 FM and political show host of EBN TV was tasked to update participants with daily local and international news. This according to the participants spiced this year’s lay leadership training school (LLTS) programme.

Topics treated were Baptism, gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit; Creation Care; Effective Assimilation Structures; Mentoring and Coaching the next generation. Pastor Oppong Donkor (lecturer, Pentecost Theological Seminary) represented the National Discipleship and Leadership Development Committee as school supervisor. He contributed very valuable insights during his visit on Wednesday.
