The Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Mr Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako had said he sees nothing wrong with the action the Bureau for National Investigation (BNI) took, with regard to the detention of the former Chief of Staff, Mr Kwadwo Mpiani. Speaking on Peace FM’s Morning Show, “Kokrokoo”, Mr Baako said, Mr Dan Abodakpi and some others were invited by the BNI the same way during ex-President Kufuor’s NPP regime, so he does not understand why some NPP sympathizers are behaving as if it is the first time such an incident has occurred.
Mr Baako was speaking in reaction to the NPP sympathizers’ appearance at BNI Headquarters yesterday, following the invitation by the BNI for Mr Mpiani to appear before them. Peace FM sources say, Mr Mpiani spent about 12 hours in the BNI’s office and this sparked the worries of the NPP sympathizers as they demanded to know what was happening to the former Chief of Staff.
Speaking on Peace FM’s News @ 6pm yesterday, the Deputy Information Minister, Mr James Agyenim Boateng explained, that Mr Mpiani spent quite some time with the BNI because they were not expecting him at BNI office yesterday. According to Mr Agyenim Boateng, the BNI invited Mr Mpiani to appear before them earlier than yesterday, but he could not because he was busy, but was able to honour the invitation yesterday, when the BNI was busy doing something else.
PeaceFM sources say Mr. Mpiani was interrogated over a wide range of issues, some of them relating to Ghana @ 50 celebrations.
