Tetteh Quarshie interchange to begin soon

The construction of the Tetteh Quarshie Circle interchange was given a boost on Tuesday with the signing of an ?80b agreement for the project. Dr Richard Anane, Minister of Roads and Transport, signed for the government while Dr Larbi Yeboah, Managing Director of Twum-Boafo and Partners, the consulting supervisors of the project, initialled for his company.

Albert Hammond, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA), the agency in charge of the project, also signed for the Authority. The agreement will allow for funds to be sourced from the African Development Bank for the project. The project will fulfil a promise made by the President, J.A. Kufuor, earlier this year in his State of the Nation Address.

It would involve the extension of the motorway to link up with Dzorwulu-Abeka-Lapaz road to create an underground passage for vehicles from the airport to Madina. This would form ‘greed’ separation where the roads would meet at the ground level.

There would also be ‘clover leap’ at all the four interchanges to allow vehicles to change directions without any problems. The project would begin before the end of this year and would be completed in 27 months. Dr Anane asked the consultants to be mindful of government deadlines for the execution of the project.
