The former Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Opoku Onyina, has cautioned believers about the critical need to test all prophecies and revelations against the Word of God.
Speaking on “Testing Revelations and Prophecy” on Pent TV on Friday, September 12, 2025, the renowned cleric warned that even Satan is capable of revealing hidden truths, but with destructive outcomes.

Apostle Onyina emphasised that the true source of a prophecy is more important than its apparent accuracy.
“It is important to test prophecy with the Word of God,” he stated.
To illustrate his point, he recalled the biblical account of Moses and Pharaoh’s magicians.
"When Moses turned his rod into a snake, the magicians were also able to replicate the act. According to him, this demonstrates that supernatural signs and wonders can originate from different sources.
“So, it is important to test prophecies before acting on them through discernment, ensuring they align with the Word of God,” he advised.

He further explained that false prophecies often contain a mix of truth and falsehood, making them deceptive and difficult to identify without spiritual discernment.
Citing another biblical example, Apostle Onyina recalled how Apostle Paul rebuked some women who appeared to be praising him as a man of God but were actually diviners.
“In that case, it was easy to detect their source of revelation because they were known diviners. But in our time, it takes discernment to distinguish fake prophets from the genuine,” he added.
