Tension In Police Training Schools

Confirmed reports available to THE INDEPENDENT point to the existence of tension in all the six training schools of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), between recruits and their superiors.

This follows the implementation of certain directives on the orders of Mrs Gifty Anin-Botwe, Commissioner of Police in-charge of Human Resources.

The directives from Mrs Anim-Botwe circulated to all the Police training schools in the country located in Accra, Kumasi, Bolgatanga, Winneba, Ho, and Koforidua and sighted by this paper, states that every new recruit should pay an amount of ?500,000 starting from July this year.

Investigations however revealed a bewildered recruit corps who are not sure of where to channel their grievances over the matter, as they maintain the top hierarchy of the Police Service are aware of what is happening, since Mrs Anim-Botwe is acting right under their noses.

Seething with rage, the recruits only hope that a higher authority would intervene to put a stop to this exploitation.
