Tema, Dec. 20, GNA-Mr. Ben Djakumah, a 60-year-old Marine Engineer was at the weekend elected as the new Chairman of the Tema West Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) at their Delegates Conference.
He polled 96 votes to beat his opponent, Captain Anthony Cudjoe (retired) the incumbent Chairman, who had 81 votes. The Vice-Chairman position was won by Mr. Sampson Kofi Eshun who also polled 38 votes to emerge the winner.
Other elected executives were Richard Fiadomor Secretary, Mr.Benjamin Doe Ganyo, Treasurer, Mr. Foster Asante,Propaganda Secretary, Mr. William Adortse, Organizer, Madam Joyce Asiedu Asare, Women Organizer and Mr. Prince Y.K Morti,Youth Organizer.
Alhaji Yahaya Kundow, Greater-Accra Regional Treasurer of the NDC, congratulated party members in the constituency for the hard work during the 2008 general elections.
Alhaji Kundow urged them not to be complacent, but to work even harder to ensure victory in 2012.
Mr. Djakumah, the newly-elected Chairman, thanked all the delegates for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged his readiness to serve the party, adding that he and his colleague executives would work harder for NDC to win the Tema West Parliamentary seat.
Mr. Djakumah was optimistic that come 2012, the party would win both the presidential and the parliamentary seats for the constituency. He therefore charged those who lost the elections, to bury their differences and join forces with the winners, so that together, they could work hard towards a 2012 election victory.
He called for unity among members, pointing out that the party could be strong only if it had good leadership and a united body.
