Tarzan's watchman gets 4 yrs for stealing bedsheets

A PRIVATE security guard, Ahmed Baba Umar, has been sentenced to 48 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing bedsheets belonging to Dr. Charles Yves Wereko-Brobby, Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA).

Baba Umar working with Secure Guard, an Accra-based security company had been assigned to guard the Switchback Road residence of Charlie Brobbs, according to the police charge sheet.

On October 18, this year, at about 2:30 p.m., the accused sneaked into the CEO's guest room and stole a new set of bedsheets, which had been kept in the wardrobe.

The charge sheet, which was signed by D/Sgt. Samuel Akomprah, said he "hid the bedsheets in his security uniform and while leaving the room, but the house cleaner spotted him." He had him arrested and later handed him over to the police Umar, in his caution statement to the police, admitted the offence. "He was charged accordingly after investigations.
