Government has renamed the Tamale Sports Stadium after late Vice-President of Ghana, Aliu Mahama.

Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia unveiled a plaque to officially announce the new name at the stadium over the weekend.

The renaming forms part of activities to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the death of the former vice-president.

Dr Bawumia described Mr Mahama as a statesman, a nationalist and a philanthropist who contributed his quota in diverse ways to national development.
