Tamale falls for Bawumia

Scores of people in the Tamale Metropolis poured into the streets on Wednesday to offer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) vice-presidential candidate a hilarious welcome.

Dr. Bawumia reportedly stopped at Sankpagla to address a community durbar of the chiefs and people, but did that after paying a courtesy call on the chief of Kusawgu.

The highway from Sankpagla to Tamale was taken over by party supporters amidst drumming and dancing and the tooting of horns, as it took him several hours to get to the rally grounds to address thousands of party faithful.

Thousands of people and over 500 motor cyclists joined the spectacle making the procession to the Zoegbeli Park even slower. Not even the dawn of darkness could convince the over 5,000 people and cyclists who were escorting Dr. Bawumia of the need to hasten the pace of the procession.

Addressing the teaming supporters, the respected economist urged the people of the area to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo because he had been tried and tested, and stands tall among his competitors.

“... I am assuring all that we would do the necessary hard work of selling our message of hope and transformation from hamlet to hamlet, village to village, town to town, city to city in Northern Ghana,” he said.

“We won’t leave any inch of space unaccounted for in this task of restoring hope to the North and when we are done, we know that the people of the North would reject the politics of deceit, propaganda and lies and fully endorse Nana Akufo-Addo and myself to lead us to the era of transformation we all dream of,” he said.
