Tamale chief in trouble over leaked tape flogging

Calls have been intensified for the arrest and prosecution of the Dakpema of Tamale, Naa Bawa Fuseini for ordering two lovers whose tape leaked recently to be flogged at the palace.

Whereas a section see his order as a violation of the rights of the victims, others observed that he outstepped his bounds as a chief and should be brought to check since civilization frowns on such punishment.

The two characters in a recently leaked tape were flogged 12 strokes of canes at the palace of the chief to serve as a deterrent to others, has confirmed.

According to the palace spokesperson, Malgu Naa Alhaji Majeed the accused persons who have brought the name of the ancient town into disrepute, were each subjected to twelve strokes of canes by palace guards on the orders of the chief.

They are also required to produce two rams and some fowls from for the pacification of the gods in view of what the chief termed as a sacrilegious act.

Malgu Naa justified the action of the chief saying “Our intention is to prevent these behaviours among the young people in the city. We are going to continue with this action and any videos that we see and we think that it is not healthy for public consumption, we will look for such persons and punish them severely”

But there has been a wide condemnation of the chief’s action with section calling for his immediate arrest and prosecution since his conduct amounted to tyranny.
