Tamale NTC students arrested for rioting

Tamale, June 10, GNA - Ten students of the Tamale Nursing Training College (NTC)were on Friday arrested by the Northern Regional Police command for going on an illegal demonstration, rioting and obstructing vehicular and pedestrian movement.

The students, who were made up of six females and four males, would be charged after investigation.

Speaking to the GNA in Tamale Deputy Superintendent of Police Caesar Abanga said the police picked signals of the students' action and he personally went to the scene and advised them to use one lane but they ignored him and instead increased their tempo.

He said the students obstructed traffic and refused to obey police orders.

Some of the students who spoke to the GNA on condition of anonymity said they were demonstrating against the school administration.

They said they had been prevented from having access to most of the school's facilities though the facilities were meant for them.

The students also complained about poor feeding and the annual academic registration had not been done though they had finished paying their school fees.
