Tamale Hospital records six births on anniversary day

Tamale, March 7, GNA- The Tamale Teaching Hospital recorded six babies including twins on March 6, 2007, the day of the 50th anniversary celebration in Tamale.

The births, three boys including the twins and three females were all born through normal deliveries with the first delivery, a female recorded at 12:37 AM this morning.

Madam Mariama Fuseina, Midwifery Superintendent in charge of the labour ward told the GNA in an interview on Tuesday that other three pregnant women were expected to deliver later in the day. The hospital also recorded some casualties when a canopy collapsed on them at the Tamale Jubilee Park, where they were watching events of the anniversary celebration.

Mr. Abu Wahab, a nursing officer of the Out Patients-Department (OPD) said six of the casualties had been treated and discharged while the remaining four were on admission. There were, however, no deaths recorded at the hospital.
