The Tamale Central Mosque is undergoing a major facelift funded by a philanthropist popularly called Alhaji Siidi.

It has now become a centre of attraction to a throng of Muslims and others who go there daily to witness the ongoing construction works.

The ground floor to the top have been decorated with modern tiles and the electrical installations changed.

The Louvre blades and wooden doors have been replaced with sliding doors and windows.

This is the first time a philanthropist is single handedly renovating the Mosque.

Alhaji Siidi earlier donated a V8 Toyota Vehicle to the Northern Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Ahmed Abdul Salam.

A member of the Mosque Steering Committee, Alhaji Abdullah Hindu in an interview praised Alhaji Siidi for his kind gesture.

He said individuals contributions to the Mosque current outlook could not be underestimated.

Alhaji Hindu reminded Muslims who worship there to change their attitudes and always be reminded that, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness."

The late Alhaji Yahaya Iddi, the late Alhaji Mahamadu Maida, the late Alhaji Adam Progress among others masterminded the Tamale Central Mosque architecture.

The two-storey building Mosque with a capacity of 5,000 was rebuilt on Wednesday 6, March 1974.

The Mosque was constructed with contributions from individuals.
