The Tema West Municipal Assembly (TWMA) has presented mathematical sets to all students sitting this year’s West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the Municipality.

The presentation, done in all three senior high schools in the Tema West municipality, was meant to support the candidates, especially the less privileged ones, who cannot afford mathematical sets and other examination accessories.

In all, 910 students, from the Tema Senior High School (Temasco), Corpus Christi Senior High and Ideal College were each handed mathematical sets to aid them in the ongoing examination expected to end on June 7, 2019.

Some expected 346,098 from 987 public and private senior high schools throughout the country were sitting the examination in 707 centres across the country.

A total of 3290 students from private and public senior high schools registered to write this year’s WASSCE in the Tema Metropolitan and Tema West Municipality.

In the Tema West Municipality, 904 students including; 455 boys and 449 girls are taking part in the exams.

Handing over the mathematical sets, in the company of officials of the Assembly, at various examination centres in the Municipality, Madam Adwoa Amoako, Tema Municipal Chief Executive, encouraged the candidates to set good examples for their successors by giving off their best.

She said the presentation had become necessary because some students who lacked mathematical sets and other examination accessories had to seek help from colleagues through whispers and the stretching of their necks, which was against examinations rules.

The MCE, therefore, warned them against examination malpractice and misconduct as that had the tendency of jeopardizing their future if they were caught in the act.

She further called on them to exude confidence and shun timidity in their approach to the examinations and future ones.

Mr Emmanuel Fiamawhle, Headmaster of Temasco, who was confident that his students would perform well in this year’s WASSCE thanked the Assembly for its continuous support to the school.
