The Commission of Technical Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) have highlighted the critical need for ongoing collaboration and industry participation in shaping Ghana's future through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

They assert that partnerships among government, industry, and development partners are essential for a transformative impact on the TVET system, with industry involvement ensuring that training programs align with the dynamic requirements of the labour market.

At a media engagement at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Mr. Michael Andivi Naah, a Technical Advisor with GIZ, spoke on behalf of the corporation and the EU, emphasizing the vital role of industries in TVET for development. The event, a joint effort by CTVET, GIZ, and KsTU, aimed to highlight the importance of Sector Skills Bodies (SSBs) in developing a skilled workforce.

Mr. Naah stressed the integration of industry insights into curriculum development and the provision of practical training opportunities as key to preparing skilled professionals. He reaffirmed the German government and the European Union's commitment to skill development in Ghana through the "Pact for Skills: Support to the Transformation of the TVET Sector" project.

Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, Director-General of CTVET, underscored the value of industry engagement in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of TVET at all levels. He advocated for partnerships with the private sector to boost the productivity and competitiveness of the skilled workforce, particularly for low-income groups.

Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, expressed support for the creation and growth of SSBs, citing their potential to revolutionize TVET, spur development, and ensure employability, especially for Technical Universities.

Under the auspices of CTVET, SSBs consist of related industries working together to foster sectoral growth and competitiveness by addressing skill shortages, enhancing productivity, increasing employability, and promoting sustainable development through research.
