In a significant recognition of leadership and commitment to worker empowerment, Ing. Bismark Otoo, Regional General Manager of the Accra East Region of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has been honored by the Public Utility Workers Union (PUWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
The award celebrates his substantial contributions to the advancement of trade unionism and the capacity building of workers.
The award was presented to Ing. Otoo by President John Dramani Mahama during the May Day celebrations held at Independence Square on May 1, 2025.
He received a citation that read, “Public Utility Workers of TUC (Ghana) present this Management Award to Brother Ing. Bismark Otoo for his invaluable contribution in supporting the cause of Trade Unionism and Capacity Building of Workers.”
Ing. Otoo was recognised for his unwavering commitment to the principles of trade unionism and worker development. Since assuming his role as General Manager of the Accra East Region, he has consistently supported union initiatives both financially and materially.
He has also led various capacity-building programs for his team, including notable sessions such as emotional intelligence training designed for management and frontline staff.
In his remarks following the ceremony, Ing. Otoo expressed profound gratitude to the TUC for acknowledging his efforts.
He emphasised that the award serves as added motivation to further promote unionism within his management role.
This recognition not only underscores Ing. Otoo’s dedication but also reflects the broader goal of the awards: to honor individuals who contribute meaningfully to strengthening the mission and impact of trade unions.
