THE GHANAIAN CHRONICLE

The Chronicle reports about an impending congress of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to amend its constitution. In a centre spread, story, the paper says, stung by two electoral defeats, lack of effective leadership and murmuring within the rank and file about its direction, the New Patriotic Party will go to congress at the University of Ghana, Legon on November 29, to amend the party's constitution and empower the presidential candidate to serve a four-year term as party leader. "The advantage in the proposed amendment is that it would enable the electorate to identify with the presidential candidate long before going to the polls," the Chronicle quoted Mr. Joseph Agyenim-Boateng, General Secretary of the NPP, as saying.
