THE GHANAIAN CHRONICLE

The Chronicle says the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Peter Nanfuri has warned the Volta Regional Minister, Lt-Col Charles Agbenaza over a smuggling saga in the region. Headlined: "Sensational smuggling saga in Volta Region...Top Cop Nanfuri warns Minister", the Chronicle says a brazen attempt by the Volta Regional Minister, Lt-Col Charles Agbenaza to pervert the course of justice a forthnight ago, backfired when it met with unexpected resistance from the Regional Police Commander. The paper says consequently, the IGP had to warn the Regional Minister, a former police officer, to stop interfering in the work of the police. According to the Chronicle the IGP's warning is expected to boost the morale of dejected policemen, especially district commanders in the region, who have been frustrated by continued interference from the Regional Administration at Ho. The "Freedom of Information Act" is part of the second amendment of the United States and it constitutionally mandates easy access to information from state institutions. GRI
