Swedish MP calls on Speaker

Accra, March 3, GNA - Mr Joe Frans, a Member of Parliament (MP) of the Swedish Legislature, on Wednesday said Ghana had great trade potential that could help in marketing the country's products abroad through the International Parliamentary Union.

Mr Frans said this when he called on the Speaker Mr Peter Ala Adjatey at his office in Parliament on Wednesday.

Mr Frans said he was proud that Ghana's democracy was thriving adding; "most people in the world don't enjoy the kind of democracy that Ghana is enjoying".

Present at the ceremony were the first and second deputy speakers Mr Freddy Blay and Mr Kenneth Dzirasah respectively and other parliamentary officials.

The MP, who is a former student of Adisadel College and hails from Elmina in the central Region and resident in Sweden, is the first African to be elected into Swedish Parliament. He is an influential member of the ruling party in Sweden and serves on several committees including, that on justice and an associate member of Education and European Union Affairs.
