Sustainable jobs needed – MP

The Government of Ghana must create the enabling environment for private businesses to thrive if the unemployment canker is to be dealt with in the country, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Member of Parliament for South-Dayi, has said.

Apart from creating the enabling environment, he also urged the government to create permanent and sustainable jobs for the youth of this country.

In a congratulatory message to Ghanaian workers, especially in his constituency on Workers Day on May 1, Mr Dafeamekpor said: “We are obliged as a government to create permanent but sustainable jobs for our youth by creating that enabling environment for the economy to expand in order to throw out these jobs.”

The message added: “I would want to use this day to congratulate the workers (Teachers, Doctors, Nurses, etc.) who have contributed and are still contributing their bit to making our dear South-Dayi District and for that matter Ghana what it hopes to become. Our collective efforts in this regard is what will make our country a better place in the future.

“I would also use this opportunity to commend successive governments in their contributions towards sustaining our democracy without which our efforts would all back-paddle to zero. But we still need to do more in creating opportunities for the teeming youth as they graduate from our institutions (first and second cycle). We are obliged as a government to create permanent but sustainable jobs for our youth by creating that enabling environment for the economy to expand in order to throw out these jobs.

“To the workers, I say thank you for your contributions to the development of Ghana but to the workers and farmers of South-Dayi who till the land every day for our sustenance, your diligent service to mother Ghana is highly appreciated. I say ayekoo to my workers in Adzebui, Kpongbonikofe, Gborkofe, Dzakiti, Dzemeni, Tsanakpe, Agordake, Fantekofe, Atoklokpo, Toh, Dugah, Ahor, Kaira, Abui, Tsita, New Kaira, Tsate, Kpeyiborme, Kpatsaxoe, Todome, Akpato, Sodzikofe, Kpeve, Tsokpokofe, Wegbe, Wawase/Camp, Tsiyinu, Sanga, Anyensu, Dzake, Avetile, Afeviwofe, Tsame, Blengo, Dzogbati, Wudome, Agbatey, Nyinibu and Adzokoe.”
