Operations at the Bibiani offices of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Audit Service have been disrupted following a suspected burglary that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Unknown individuals reportedly forced their way into the premises and carted away several items, including computers, printers, ceiling fans, air conditioners, and a public address system.

The incident has left staff shaken and concerned about the safety of public institutions in the area.

According to an adomonline.com report dated February 12, 2026, the Municipal Director of the NCCE, Martha Nneka Opara, described the break-in as part of a series of thefts that have affected the office in recent months.

“This office has been repeatedly targeted. We have lost critical equipment — computers, fans, air conditioners and our PA system and each loss directly affects our ability to serve the people of this municipality,” she stated.

Opara noted that inadequate security and poor lighting within the office compound have made the facility vulnerable to criminal activities.

She stressed that the theft of the essential equipment has hampered civic education activities, particularly outreach and public engagement efforts within the municipality.

Opara appealed to the municipal assembly and the Ghana Police Service to step up security, suggesting measures such as intensified patrols, installation of CCTV cameras and improved fencing around the premises.

Residents have also voiced concerns over the recurring incidents, warning that continued attacks on public offices could undermine service delivery and erode public confidence.

They have urged the police to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure those responsible are apprehended.

The Ghana Police Service is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
