Suspected serial murderer arrested

The Police Criminal Investigations Department has arrested one Samuel Kojo Ewul of Dansoman, who was found possessing certain items suspected to used in serial killings.

The items include twelve condoms, 2 injection syringes, twelve nails, one measuring tape and a packet of blades. Another injection syringe containing a reddish substance, a herbal concoction in solid state and a piece of paper with several telephone number written on it were also found. A statement from the police public relations directorate however denied arresting any man carrying a sack full of money as was reported by a private newspaper. The statement asked any member of the public who has any information regarding the incident, which was reported by the paper to have occurred at the Dinias drinking spot at Akukor Foto- Dansoman, a suburb of Accra, to come forward and assist it in its investigations.

Meanwhile, the Police CID, acting on information supplied by the public, have arrested the houseboy who allegedly killed a house girl, Augustina Efua Afriyie at Dansoman last month.

Augustina was murdered on the 26th of June, barely a week after arriving from Suhum to live with a couple at Dansoman. The 26 year-old Mawuli Kudzo Ankrah was arrested at Bonatsei near Nkwanta in the Volta Region where he had taken refuge. The police statement said Mawuli confessed to murdering the deceased during interrogation and mentioned four other accomplices, two of whom have been arrested. According to the police, while in Nkwanta, Mawuli was taken to a herbalist by his uncle for purification after confessing to the crime. The uncle and the herbalist have also been arrested for interrogation. Meanwhile, the police have mounted a search for one Adamu Kamo who is an accomplice in the murder of Augustina and is on the run. The 30 year-old Adamu Koma from Chereponi in the northern region is said to be black in complexion and five feet eight inches tall. The statement emphasised that the arrest of Mawuli was achieved through information received from the public and repeated its appeal to the public to furnish it with more information to help arrest the perpetrators of the Accra serial killings.
