Chaos broke out at Kofi-Sah, near Nsawam in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality, after a group of suspected land guards invaded the chief’s palace, launching a violent assault on the traditional ruler and several elderly community members.
The Chief of Kofi-Sah, Nana Kofi-Sah II, suffered brutal beatings alongside his elders during the sudden onslaught.
Narrating his ordeal to the news team, the traditional ruler revealed that the armed men forcibly breached the palace premises, physically assaulted him, and issued death threats in a blatant attempt to usurp his authority and plunge the peaceful town into chaos.
Nana Kofi-Sah II alleged that the attack was masterminded by an individual harbouring ambitions to illegally claim the chieftaincy stool.
Saddled with the aftermath of the violence, the chief confirmed that the incident has been formally reported to the Ghana Police Service for swift action.
He further made a passionate appeal to the Inspector General of Police to urgently intervene and launch a comprehensive probe to restore stability and guarantee the safety of residents.
Lending her voice to the escalating conflict, the Queen Mother of Kofi-Sah, Nana Awo Kwabea, reaffirmed the legitimacy of the embattled chief.
She declared unequivocally that as the rightful custodian, she enstooled Nana Kofi-Sah II in total alignment with native customs and traditional rites.
Dismissing rival claims, Nana Awo Kwabea pressed the Inspector General of Police to act decisively to uphold law and order before the dispute deteriorates further.
The violent intrusion left senior members of the chief’s council deeply traumatised.
Victims aged between 50 and 70 years recounted how the assailants displayed utter disregard for their advanced years, beating them mercilessly within the sacred confines of the palace.
Demanding accountability, the traumatised elders urged law enforcement agencies to track down the perpetrators and bring them to full justice.
